1.   One man, Anthony Porter, was just two days away from a lethal injection when his execution was stayed.

2.   But about four hours before the execution time, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals considered legal questions raised by his attorneys and the execution was stayed.

3.   He had sent a letter Wednesday asking President Ong to stay her execution.

4.   However, defense lawyers filed requests in Barbados High Court on Thursday that the executions be stayed, and planned to lodge appeals on Friday with the Privy Council.

5.   The judge said the execution would be stayed until the hearing of an appeal if Bagindah chose to challenge the sentence.
