1.   Last night both United Buses and Darlington Transport Company said they had no complaint about improving safety but said the proposed speed humps are totally unsatisfactory.

2.   They say they are willing to continue using the Skerne Park routes for a trial period while the speed humps are introduced.

3.   All the emergency services have backed the proposal to introduce speed humps.

4.   But Mr Hyslop and Mr Guest said already youths were treating the speed humps in Clifton Road as a race track.

5.   Andrew Guest, of United Buses, said his main concern was about the discomfort facing passengers and drivers if the speed humps are built.

6.   But Darlington Transport Company and United Buses are threatening to withdraw their services to Skerne Park if the speed humps are put in.
