1.   Also on the upside of the speed charts, Chad Little of Spokane set the pace in initial Busch Grand National testing at Daytona.

2.   Blaney had one of the fastest cars in practice, and was fourth on the speed charts after the afternoon session.

3.   Rising star Jeremy Mayfield stamped himself as the Cup pole favorite by topping the speed chart in both practices.

4.   Then he fell to the bottom of the speed chart in practice.

5.   Ray, who had led the speed chart all but one day since practice opened last Saturday, planned to qualify his fastest car.

6.   Salazar was atop the speed chart for much of the second practice session before Ray moved ahead for good.

7.   Somewhat surprising on Friday and Saturday was the absence of Team Penske drivers Helio Castroneves and Gil de Ferran from the top of the speed charts.
