1.   By granting preferential market access to members, it would discriminate against exports from non-members.

2.   In the meeting the representatives of many developed and developing economies have announced new preferential market access measures including duty-free import from LDCs.

3.   That involves getting a waiver from the WTO for an agreement they have with the EU granting preferential market access for agricultural products, mainly bananas.

4.   South Africa was negotiating with the EU to join the Lome Convention which offers preferential market access and economic support to African, Caribbean and Pacific countries.

5.   They welcomed recent initiatives by some countries to open preferential market access to the least developed countries and moves to incorporate trade into poverty reduction strategy programs.
