1.   Also included in the deal is a controlling stake in DePuy Inc., an American maker of orthopedic products.

2.   A subsidiary, Contour Medical Inc., makes orthopedic products and distributes disposable medical products used in nursing homes, clinics and retirement centers.

3.   DePuy chairman James Lent will head the combined orthopedic products unit, which will be based in Warsaw.

4.   Its products include Excedrin, baby formula and orthopedic products, though the majority of its sales come from pharmaceuticals.

5.   Roche said its acquisition of the Corange Group, which comprises German diagnostics company Boehringer Mannheim and U.S. orthopedic products manufacturer DePuy, is progressing as planned.
