1.   Abdul Ghapur, who announced his decision last Saturday, also resigned as Sabah Umno deputy liaison chief with immediate effect.

2.   Datuk Osu Sukam is, of course, Sabah Umno liaison chief and Pairin, president of the opposition Parti Bersatu Sabah.

3.   Former Chief Minister Datuk Salleh Tun Said said Osu was the right person to fill the post by virtue of his position as Sabah Umno liaison committee chief.

4.   Ghapur, who is Sabah Umno liaison committee deputy chief, left Istana Negeri shortly after Dompok was sworn in.

5.   He added that Ghapur was still Sabah Umno deputy liaison chief.

6.   Sabah Umno liaison chief Datuk Osu Sukam said the move was not aimed at denying the young blood with leadership potential to play a role in the party.

7.   State MCA liaison chief Datuk Gan Boon Leong said more of such branches would be set up to encourage women to be involved in politics.
