1.   Currency dealers said the combination of domestic political and economic uncertainty and a weak yen hit the rupiah, which was already suffering from market illiquidity.

2.   On Friday the battered rupiah was hit by more volatility, rising in value against the U.S. dollar in early trading only to fall again.

3.   The news also hit the rupiah, which hit new lows against the U.S. dollar.

4.   The rupiah was also hit by heavy selling Monday.
