1.   Conners said the gay community will strongly back Reno, in part because she supports allowing judges to decide whether gays can adopt children.

2.   A controversial government proposal that would allow gays to adopt children is scheduled for a parliamentary vote in June.

3.   Denmark and Iceland also allow gays to adopt, and Sweden introduced similar legislation in March.

4.   Schmitz is worried that allowing gays to adopt would cause them problems outside the Netherlands where their relationship would have no legal standing.
