1. In old subjects without atrophy, serum gastrin values were not different to those in young subjects. 2. Any factor that interferes with this negative feedback loop could lead to a rise in gastrin values. 3. During placebo treatment basal, postprandial peak, and integrated serum gastrin values were similar on the three study days and on the days before each drug course. 4. The basal gastrin value for each subject was measured by taking the mean of the three samples obtained before the start of gastrin releasing peptide infusion. |
