1. Add the flour mixture a little at a time, following each addition with a little treacle and milk until everything is incorporated. 2. Add the remaining flour mixture to the shortening mixture alternating with the beaten egg. 3. Combine egg and buttermilk, and stir into flour mixture just until ingredients are moistened. 4. Gradually beat in the eggs, stir in the yoghurt and then flour mixture until just combined. 5. Slightly mash the strawberries so that they are no longer whole, and stir into the flour mixture. 6. Sprinkle of the flour mixture over gumdrop mixture. 7. Alternately stir flour mixture and buttermilk into egg mixture until dry ingredients are just moistened. 8. Arrange pieces of butter around flour mixture and process until mixture resembles coarse meal. 9. At low speed, beat in the flour mixture alternately with the buttermilk in three batches. 10. At low speed, beat in about one-third of the flour mixture, followed by half of the cider. |
