1.   The film comes at a time when Home Secretary Kenneth Baker is considering making squatting a criminal offence.

2.   And dogs and cats will have to wait until the film comes out on video to enjoy its finer points.

3.   And then, when the film came out, everyone I knew saw it.

4.   And to cap the succession of things Demme does right, the film does come around to the largely silent and watchful daughter played by Kimberly Elise.

5.   And yet, when von Trier does hit those peaks, the film comes close to greatness.

6.   As it is, the film comes closer to a Monty Python routine.

7.   As unabashed about nudity and sex as Moll herself, the film comes with a well-deserved warning that it may not be suitable for children.

8.   At one point, a pornographic film came on.

9.   Beautifully acted, the film comes on like a big-star vehicle, then turns out to be something richer, subtler than that.

10.   Before, I was sitting back waiting for that great film to come along.
