1.   On the deposit guarantee agency, Jaroong said it will adhere to the insurance principles honoured by such agencies in other countries.

2.   The central bank would be responsible mainly for monetary policy, while the new agency would work closely with a new deposit insurance agency.

3.   The government will also set up deposit insurance agencies to provide guarantees for customer deposits and to replace the existing blanket government guarantee on all bank deposits.

4.   The supervision and examination of financial institutions should be the responsibility of a different organisation working closely with the new deposit insurance agency.

5.   Untold millions of dollars worth of assets are thought to be in the possession of French banks, state-controlled deposit agencies and insurance companies.
