Economists say the forfeitures are a virtual certainty unless USDA buys some sugar to boost the domestic price. 7. If we go to remote villages and the poorer sections of towns, we still find people who buy sugar not by the kilogramme but in small quantities. 8. It can cause markets to fall, make admittedly dastardly and corrupt presidents look a bit wobbly in their seats, and create long queues to buy sugar. 9. Meanwhile the Consumers Association of Penang has urged the Government to bar Singapore citizens from buying sugar in Johor. 10. Private firms which have bought sugar will have to sell it to state-owned companies. |
