1.   According to news reports the problem with the chickens, though localized, caused fear among consumers who stopped buying poultry.

2.   Many residents prefer to buy their poultry at markets where they are kept in cages and slaughtered on the spot for the customer in the interest of freshness.

3.   A market in the western Kowloon area was also closed down Monday after chickens were found dead in a cage which had bought the poultry from an affected farm.

4.   But from July the government is planning to increase imports of frozen chickens from mainland China in a bid to wean the Hong Kong public off buying live poultry.
