1.   Bill Freehan was always behind the plate and Denny McLain, Mickey Lolich and Earl Wilson anchored the rotation for years.

2.   Kevin Hatcher anchored one rotation with Craig Ludwig and Mike Lalor.

3.   The White Sox had expected Wells to anchor their rotation this year when they traded their ace from last season, Mike Sirotka, to Toronto for Wells.

4.   They need someone to anchor the rotation, to give stability to that rotating wonder of a staff.
