1.   As the sun poked through the afternoon clouds, temperatures on the taxiway rose, sweat beaded and water flowed.

2.   As the strong May sun heats the ground, rising currents of air will generate puffy afternoon clouds, particularly over interior sections.

3.   Afternoon clouds and scattered showers will develop in New England as a jet stream disturbance passes overhead.

4.   Clear skies will yield to increasing afternoon clouds along the Northeast and Middle Atlantic seaboards.

5.   Cool and dry air will cover the Northern Plains and Great Lakes with sunshine yielding to puffy afternoon clouds across the region.

6.   Drier but cool air will cover California and the Southwest with sunshine yielding to afternoon clouds in the mountains.

7.   Dry weather will cling to the Northeast and Middle Atlantic coasts as morning sun fades behind afternoon clouds.

8.   Elsewhere in the west, afternoon clouds and some thundershowers will develop over the mountains from eastern California to Utah.

9.   During the weekend, the air over the Northeast will steadily warm, resulting in fewer midday and afternoon clouds.

10.   Farther east, morning sun will fade behind thickening afternoon clouds along the Northeast Seaboard.
