82.   And is America ready for the daughter of a president to keep dating, or even marry, a black man?

83.   And perhaps because of their common ground, even those women who denounced it spoke of their compassion for black men.

84.   And just this past month, Essence magazine dedicated a cover story to the lack of black men in lead movie roles.

85.   And now a black man who was willing to say he loved Boston is run out of town, feeling his employers think he associates with crack dealers.

86.   And so he sets off for the theater, a well-dressed black man standing on a street corner in Dupont Circle, a tony Washington neighborhood.

87.   And there was resentment among some women at a black man who had married a white woman.

88.   And why would a black man try to rob a white youth in a public park?

89.   And was the man mentally disturbed because, as a black man, society had pressed him too hard and provided too little help?

90.   And yes, its principal creators and innovators were black men and women.
