Of course, authoritarian regimes across the world pose terrible difficulties for serious journalists. 33. None of this is to suggest that Russia would be better off with some sort of authoritarian regime. 34. On the one side, he had to deal with the authoritarian regime of Ngo Dinh Diem and a morass of corruption and ineffectiveness that was hard to overlook. 35. Once again, as often happens with authoritarian regimes, ruling government interests were confused with national interests. 36.
