11.   The French franc might suffer if public sector strikes taking place again in France on Tuesday, in protest at planned government social security reforms, dragged on.

12.   The franc had also suffered against the mark on Thursday after the Bundesbank announced that it would keep its base rates and repurchase rate unchanged.

13.   The franc suffered from weakness of the lira owing to a motion of censure against the Italian government which is to be debated in the Italian parliament this week.
