11.   Col. Kiki Syanakri, military commander of East Timor, confirmed he had detained the journalists, saying they attempted to enter the province illegally.

12.   If the warring sides accept a plan that would give Kosovo self-rule, NATO troops will enter the province to disarm the combatants and take over security.

13.   International aid and human rights organizations have been prevented from entering the province.

14.   It was the worst attack since peacekeepers entered the province in mid-June.

15.   Meanwhile, American journalists Alan Nairn and Amy Goodman flew back to Jakarta after being detained at the East Timor border as they tried to enter the province overland.

16.   NATO forces had planned to enter the province by Friday but delays forced them to postpone the deployment.

17.   Serbs in northern Kosovo, angry over U.N. efforts to collect taxes on goods entering the province, blocked several roads Tuesday and staged a peaceful protest rally.

18.   Scores of massacre sites have been discovered since NATO peacekeepers entered the province last month following the signing of a peace agreement.

19.   Since NATO troops entered the province in June, violence between Serbs and ethnic Albanians has continued.

20.   The Army said the four humvees carried about a dozen liaison personnel, who joined a British column entering the province.
