11.   Saudi writer Sheik Hamad bin Mohammed al-Jasir received an award for his contribution to Arabic literature.

12.   Several appeals and injunctions have been filed in the case, most of them going against Nasr Abu Zeid, a professor of Arabic literature.

13.   The report was especially critical of a court case, brought by Islamic fundamentalist lawyers, against Arabic literature professor Nasr Abu Zeid.

14.   But the Egyptian authorities continue to uphold accusations of heresy against Abu Zeid made by Moslem fundamentalists, who accuse the Arabic literature professor of writing books deemed anti-Islamic.

15.   The appeal court Wednesday declared that Abu Zaid, a professor of Arabic literature at Cairo University, was an apostate and must be divorced from his wife.
