11. In both series, H pylori was associated with chronic active gastritis compared with its presence in the mucosa without active inflammation. 12. In contrast, antral tumours mainly arose from mucosa showing the changes of chronic active gastritis. 13. The strong association between antral tumours and chronic active gastritis suggests the possibility that H pylori infection may have a pathogenic role. 14. In the control group of blood transfusion donors we have excluded the patients with serological evidence of H pylori infection, because of its association with chronic active gastritis. 15. The high pepsinogen C concentrations in patients with duodenal ulcer are probably related to H pylori related chronic active gastritis. 16. The histology indicated chronic active antral gastritis in all patients. 17. Before treatment, histology showed that all patients had chronic active gastritis, predominantely in the antral region. 18. Helicobacter pylori eradication heals chronic active type B gastritis and dramatically changes the natural history of duodenal ulcer disease. 19. A very strong association of H pylori infection of the gastric mucosa with chronic active type B gastritis and duodenal ulcer has been clearly established by now. |
