1. The mechanism of hypergastrinaemia associated with H pylori infection is not known but the accompanying antral gastritis might be involved. 2. The reason for the hypergastrinaemia in the four idiopathic DU patients is also unclear and it is of note that only one of them had antral gastritis. 3. Helicobacter pylori is recognised as a significant cause of chronic antral gastritis and important in the aetiology of peptic ulceration. |
