Franco said that modernization should not impoverish the middle classes or require more sacrifices from workers. 4. Economic success in the long term required further sacrifices in the short term. 5. And at the outset of this war, Americans must understand that it is likely to last many years and require enormous sacrifice, both at home and abroad. 6. Any serious American effort to reduce greenhouse gases will require sacrifice. 7. Besides offering wage concessions in return for equity in the carrier, the proposal would require sacrifices from other employees and investors. 8.
