1. As noted above, the rules for picking delegates are flawed. 2. But the ballots will be coded so that only Republican votes count toward selecting Republican delegates and only Democratic votes pick Democratic delegates. 3. Committed activists are more likely than moderates to master the arcane process by which delegates are picked. 4. Even before the polls closed in all eight states that picked delegates, there was a casualty from the voting. 5. New Hampshire state law requires the state to have its primary seven days before any other state that picks delegates to the national conventions. 6. Only registered Democratic voters count toward picking convention delegates. 7. The caucuses picked delegates. 8. The healing was moving smoothly until McCain backers claimed they got the shaft when it came to picking delegates to the Republican National Convention. 9. Bush set stops Thursday in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, where delegates will be picked in primaries and caucuses on Friday. 10. Each state and party has its own rules for picking delegates. |
