1.  Even if we all reach an agreement on different roles for men and women, such a sort of consensus is still in vain, for each individual is endowed with the right of choosing a living state for itself.

3.  Reacting to the common phenomenon, at the 119th meeting of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers in Madrid, 12 May 2009, Ministers for Foreign Affairs and representatives of the 47 Council of Europe member states adopted the Declaration: Making gender equality a reality.

4.  Our objective in creating this Jianghai Ambition 2012 was to paint a crystal clear picture -"The Shape of Things to Come"-of the future state we will create.
