1.  Aluminum Co. of America withdrew from a bidding group led by Cia. Siderurgica Nacional, the largest steel company in Brazil, said CSN spokesman Francisco Padilha.

2.  Another member of the bidding group is Banca Commerciale Italiana SpA.

10.  Shares in Enersis SA and its unit Chilectra Metropolitana SA rallied after their bidding group bought Cia. De Eletrcidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, or Cerj.
