1.  A man dressed as Jefferson Davis gave out fake Confederate money.

2.  He had found some Confederate money in an antique desk once, but this seemed more interesting.

3.  It would be nice to bet on the Kentucky Derby with Confederate money, enough to cover the wagering possibilities without risking much.

4.  The sepia-toned photo on the opening page suggests an earlier, simpler time, or maybe Confederate money.
