1.  There are only a very small number of differences in grammar between American English and British English.

2.  Punishment, in accordance with the law, of a small number of law-breakers is intended on the one hand to turn them into law-abiding and self-supporting workers so that they will refrain from doing harm to society and, on the other hand, is aimed at educating a greater number of potenial offenders so that they eill be aware of the inviolability of law and refrain from rashly breaking the law.
