1.   Their wastes include solvents, fuels, mine tailings, radioactive wastes, and unexploded bombs and shells.

2.   Non-process waste includes waste spoil from building work, etc.

3.   Medical waste may include such items as bloody gauze pads, bandages, used syringes and human tissue and organs.

4.   The wastes included arsenic, nitrate, cyanide and the banned pesticide chlordane.

5.   Greenpeace activists objected, charging that the waste includes toxic chemicals including cancer-causing cadmium, used to make batteries, and organic chloride.

6.   Leftover wastes include scores of buried tanks that contain an unknown mixture of radioactive and toxic materials including several that scientists have struggled to keep them from exploding.

7.   Low-level radioactive waste includes smoke detectors, defective luminous watch dials, radar parts and gas mantles.

8.   Some wastes included in List A are considered raw materials by some countries.

9.   The waste at Andreeva includes spent nuclear fuel cores from atomic submarines.
