1.   Commemorative portraiture assumed many guises, from religious icon to vanity production to erotic emblem in the case of a single painting of a Qing beauty holding an orchid.

2.   It remains a self-serving vanity production that only pretends to explore the lower depths, Hollywood-style.

3.   Sadly, most citizens get interested in public access only to create one or two quick vanity productions, then just as quickly lose interest.

4.   Still, it would not be entirely fair to call this a vanity production.

5.   To call this a vanity production is like saying Bill Clinton has a small PR problem.
