1.   Policemen wielding clubs dispersed more than a thousand students blocking traffic in front of the parliament building Tuesday protesting legislation to revoke university autonomy.

2.   Student leaders complained police had entered the campus, violating university autonomy.

4.   The Association of Central American Private Universities has come out against the law, saying it violates the principle of university autonomy.

5.   The battles began Thursday because of student discontent over a reform that would reduce university autonomy, with riots continuing into Saturday.
