1.   The inner glass tube contains a known mass of solvent.

2.   The tube also contained a hydrogen sulfidelike chemical to mimic the hydrogen sulfide produced by volcanoes.

3.   The defendant said he stole the materials to demonstrate security lapses at the site, which has since been closed, and without knowing what the tube contained.
