1.   Carefully transfer the onions from the water to an oiled baking sheet, and set aside.

2.   Remove the skillet from the burner and quickly transfer the onions to a paper towel-lined platter to cool and drain.

3.   Transfer onions to a bowl.

4.   Transfer the onions to a large mixing bowl.

5.   Transfer onions to a small bowl and wipe the skillet clean with a paper towel or napkin.

6.   Transfer the onions to a bowl.

7.   Transfer the onions to the ice water.

8.   Using a slotted spoon, transfer the onion to a plate.
