1. As cold air pushed across the Northeast, severe thunderstorms produced powerful winds and hail, closing the ledger of business on a very busy spring day. 2. A few thunderstorms will produce strong straight-line winds and, perhaps, hail. 3. Afternoon thunderstorms will produce hail and heavy rain in parts of Arizona and a few storms may drift into the deserts of California. 4. Embedded thunderstorms may produce hail and damaging winds too. 5. Heavy thunderstorms will produce flash flooding near and just north of the path of low pressure from Nebraska and Iowa to the central Great Lakes. 6. In addition a few thunderstorms will produce strong, damaging winds. 7. In late August, a heavy and prolonged thunderstorm produced flash floods near the top that caused the trail to be shut down temporarily. 8. In summer, isolated, nearly stationary thunderstorms can produce incredible amounts of rain in a short time but only in one spot. 9. Isolated severe thunderstorms produced hail and damaging winds in parts of western Minnesota and the Dakotas on Thursday as low pressure lifted unseasonably warm air over the region. 10. Rainfall throughout this corridor will be less than in recent days, though isolated thunderstorms could still produce an inch or two of additional rain. |
