1.   The referral source was classified as either surgical, which included the regional thoracic surgery unit, or medical, which included the regional medical cardiology centre.

2.   He established a division of thoracic surgery and worked on the surgical procedures for lung, esophagus and cardiovascular conditions.

3.   He stood there with hundreds of doctors, from microvascular surgeons to opthalmologists to the chief of thoracic surgery from Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.

9.   A doctor said he was not sure whether the policeman would live through Wednesday night as the hospital had no capacity for thoracic surgery.
