1.   Time zero was considered the time of completion of the test meal.

2.   After this, subjects were sham fed a standard test meal for determination of sham fed acid output, as previously described.

3.   The gastric emptying characteristics of the test meal were also monitored by gamma scintigraphy in a separate experiment.

4.   Identical test meals were used for all the experiments.
