1.   During our stay, every spare hand went up into the national forest to help drive the herd to greener summer pastures.

2.   Following elk back from their high-country summer pastures to a cooler and briefly snow-dusted Lamar Valley late last month, they met the bison again.

3.   When we asked, we learned that the cows were being herded up the mountains to their summer pastures on the plateau.

4.   Hundreds of people lined the sidewalks to watch shepherds herd the merinos on their way from summer mountain pastures in northern Leon to the warmer Extremadura in the southwest.
