1. For breads, a serving is about one ounce, or one slice of standard packaged loaf. 2. Oil or butter a standard loaf pan. 3. Shape into standard loaves or pull-apart loaves. 4. Since large loaves keep better than smaller ones, the standard loaf was four to nine pounds. 5. Use a flat casserole dish instead of the standard loaf pan, or each serving will get only a disappointingly dinky ration of mashers. 6. In Kabul the price of bread has not changed -- but the weight of a standard loaf has dropped in response to the shortage of flour. |
