1.   Another nut, the coupling nut, connects the tailpiece to the riser pipe that comes from the shutoff valve.

2.   Before trying to disassemble the faucet, close the shutoff valve.

3.   Before twisting the connector nut onto the shutoff valve, slip the compression sleeve onto the pipe end.

4.   Bend the pipe so it mates with the shutoff valve and the fixture nipple, then check to see if it is the right length.

5.   Before attempting to replace a supply pipe, close the shutoff valve to stop the water flow.

6.   After the riser is hooked up, you can open the shutoff valve to turn the water on.

7.   After the tank has been drained, close the drain valve and vacuum-breaker plug then open the shutoff valve.

8.   Each gas appliance should have an individual gas shutoff valve, and you must know where it is and how to operate it.

9.   Each gas appliance should have an individual gas shutoff valve.

10.   Finally turn on the shutoff valve and refill the tank.
