1.   Check the manual that came with your computer to see how to enter the BIOS setup screen.

2.   If you want to prepare for the day your battery dies, go to the setup screen of your computer and copy down all the information you see there.

3.   Like most modern home routers, the Wireless Gateway is configured using a browser-based series of setup screens.

4.   Once you are in the setup screen, search for the password feature.

5.   Only install the minimal set of components, and read every word of every setup screen.

6.   On my computer, I can also set a password that protects the setup screen itself.

7.   The SpeedStream models use the same setup screen for encryption as the Barricade, in which you must make multiple choices without much explanation.
