1.   Deputy Home Minister Datuk Ong Ka Ting said the public should not be taken in easily by rumour mongers.

2.   I hope that all those rumour mongers and instigators will finally rest their voices.

3.   Ong declined to elaborate when asked whether police had identified the rumour mongers.

4.   The Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation said rumour mongers would be forced to join the military, which is battling Tamil Tiger guerrillas.
