1.   Roses do best in well-drained, slightly acid soil.

2.   Some roses do better in different types of soil.

3.   Often used as borders and hedges, China roses also do well in containers.

4.   Onions do it, roses do it, moss and mighty oaks do it.

5.   Other English roses did fine, so write it off to the vagaries of gardening.
