1.   A stronger currency encourages foreign investors, as their investments stand to gain value in home currency terms when the ringgit appreciates.

2.   He said Malaysia could have capped credit growth in recent years by allowing the ringgit to appreciate, as Singapore did with its dollar.

3.   He said he had expected the ringgit to appreciate against the dollar, though not at this pace.

4.   He noted that it was a good sign that the ringgit had appreciated and hoped it would stabilise in the long term.

5.   Not much foreign participation was detected as there would have been a bigger volume and the ringgit would have appreciated otherwise, he said.
