1. Arrange tomato slices on the bread, and scatter the remaining tomatoes on the arugula. 2. Add remaining tomato juice, making sure ingredients are well-blended. 3. Cut remaining tomatoes into chunks and put through the medium-size screen of a food mill. 4. Gradually add remaining tomatoes and continue blending until pureed. 5. Halve remaining tomatoes and stir into mixture. 6. Repeat the process with the remaining tomatoes, adding more oil to the pan as necessary. 7. Repeat this process two more times, alternating direction of stems for each layer and using remaining tomato sauce and cheese. 8. Repeat with the remaining tomatoes. 9. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the cheese, remaining tomatoes, slivered basil, and garlic. 10. Repeat with remaining tomatoes. |
