4.   Norton serves on the Government Reform and Oversight Committee, where she is ranking Democrat on the District of Columbia subcommittee, and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

5.   Pelosi, ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, agrees that Bush should seek and obtain Congressional approval to launch any attack on Iraq.

6.   Rep. David Obey of Wisconsin, ranking Democrat on the House Appropriations Committee, said no one should assume that passage of a long-term C.R. would be a snap.

7.   Sabo, ranking Democrat on the Appropriations Subcommittee on transportation, was traveling on Friday.

8.   Rep. James Oberstar, D-Minn., ranking Democrat on the House Transportation Committee, has also called for a fully federalized force.

9.   Sen. Daniel Inouye, ranking Democrat on the Senate Defense Appropriations subcommittee, is from Hawaii, a state whose military housing is regarded as among the worst.

10.   Sen. Richard Lugar, ranking Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and an expert on terrorism, agreed.
