1.   Barry Kurnik, a walk-on transfer, quit the team.

2.   Gardner was a football walk-on at Nebraska, but quit the team in order to concentrate on wrestling.

3.   He played extremely well for several weeks, and then, for no apparent reason, quit the team.

4.   Two other players, Junior center Steve Walston and freshman forward Silester Rivers, quit the team during the season.

5.   Walk-on Barry Kurnik quit the team after playing in five games.

6.   And wide receiver Andrew Carter and cornerback Gene Green quit the team in August.

7.   Arizona State kicker Mike Gauthier quit the team Friday after learning the Sun Devils had received an oral commitment from a standout local kicker.

8.   At least one other scout believes it was enough justification for Douglass to quit the team.

9.   Axtell was suspended by Penders last season for academic reasons, and Axtell then quit the team after a former assistant released his grades to a local radio station.
