1.   At some point, the sound bites about hair-splitting will be irrelevant and the job will fall to somebody to prove perjury with evidence and witnesses.

2.   However, I do not believe that the House managers met the legal requirements of proving perjury beyond a reasonable doubt.

3.   Proving perjury, however, is extremely difficult, and the tobacco industry wasted little time mounting a counteroffensive.

4.   The White House lawyers argue that a high standard of proof is needed to prove perjury.
