1.   Alex Zanardi turned in the second-fastest time, ending his streak of six consecutive pole starts.

2.   Despite two record-setting pole starts and leading four different races he has finished in the top five just twice.

3.   Zanardi is used to doing his winning and losing on the course, where his hot Reynard Honda had won six-consecutive pole starts coming in.

4.   In five pole starts this season, Hill has not won a race.

5.   Vasser won in Australia in March in his only other Indy-car pole start.
