1. These results cannot, however, be extrapolated to other patient groups. 2. These distributions were studied in an unselected patient group with pelvic ileal reservoirs constructed for both ulcerative colitis and FAP. 3. In our patient group, a major presenting symptom was dysphagia, which is in agreement with the presenting symptoms in the published reports. 4. The median age in the normal volunteers was less than that in the patient group but there was no significant difference in BMI between the two groups. 5. The histological assessments were made without knowledge of either patient group or the order of biopsies. 6. The mean age of their population, however, was high and the results cannot be extrapolated to other patient groups. 7. Therefore, no outcome data for a similar young patient group can be found. 8. The sex and age distribution of the healthy control group was comparable with that of the patient group. |
